Firearms Training for Trinidad and Las Animas County

Finding professional firearms training in rural Southern Colorado can be difficult. Have Gun Will Train Colorado offers students from the Trinidad area access to a full-time firearms training school with classes available throughout the week.

Our training is conducted in Pueblo, Colorado. Many students make the drive from Trinidad because they want more than a certificate. They want practical instruction in safe gun handling, handgun fundamentals, Colorado firearm laws, concealed carry, and defensive firearm skills.

Whether you recently purchased your first handgun, need training for a Colorado Concealed Handgun Permit, or simply want to become safer and more confident with the firearm you already own, we can help.

Colorado Concealed Carry Classes for Trinidad Residents

Colorado now requires substantially more training for an initial Concealed Handgun Permit than it did in the past. Our Colorado Concealed Carry Class meets the current state training requirements and combines classroom instruction with live-fire training.

The class covers firearm safety, handgun handling, Colorado concealed carry laws, use of force, conflict avoidance, interaction with law enforcement, safe storage, and the responsibilities that come with carrying a concealed handgun.

Live-fire training and qualification are included as part of the course.

Already Have a Colorado Concealed Handgun Permit?

Colorado CHP holders now have specific training requirements when renewing their permits. We offer a dedicated Colorado Concealed Carry Permit Renewal Class for permit holders who need to complete the required refresher training and live-fire qualification.

Don’t wait until the last minute. Colorado has specific time periods for renewing a concealed handgun permit, and the training certificate itself has a limited period of validity.

New to Handguns?

A concealed carry class should not be the first time you seriously learn how to operate your handgun.

Our Handgun Fundamentals training is designed for new gun owners and shooters who want to build a solid foundation before moving into concealed carry or defensive handgun training.

Training includes safe gun handling, loading and unloading, handgun operation, ammunition, shooting fundamentals, and practical range skills.

Your carry gun isn’t necessarily the gun you should learn on. New shooters often learn faster when they begin with a handgun that fits their hands and allows them to concentrate on the fundamentals rather than fighting the firearm.

Practical Firearms Training — Not Just a Certificate

Have Gun Will Train Colorado has been training firearm owners since 2010. Our goal isn’t simply to get students through a class. We want students to understand how to safely handle their firearms and make sound decisions before, during, and after carrying a gun.

Safe gun ownership involves more than knowing how to pull the trigger. Students should understand how to safely load and unload their firearm, verify its condition, store it securely, operate it correctly, and recognize when the use of a firearm is — and is not — legally justified.

Concealed carry is a mission. The firearm, holster, training, judgment, and ability to avoid unnecessary confrontations all matter.

Why Trinidad Students Train With Us

Students from Southern Colorado often tell us they are looking for an instructor who teaches firearms professionally rather than someone who occasionally conducts a concealed carry class.

Have Gun Will Train Colorado has provided firearms instruction since 2010 and offers training throughout the week. That gives students traveling from Trinidad more options for scheduling training without having to wait weeks for a particular weekend class.

Our classes emphasize practical firearm safety, responsible gun ownership, sound gun-handling habits, and understanding Colorado law.

Colorado Concealed Handgun Permits in Las Animas County

Colorado Concealed Handgun Permits are issued by the sheriff. Residents of Trinidad and Las Animas County should verify current application procedures, fees, identification requirements, and appointment information directly with the Las Animas County Sheriff’s Office.

State concealed handgun permit requirements are established under Colorado law. Because firearm laws and administrative procedures can change, students should rely on current official sources rather than old internet articles or social-media posts.

For state information, see the
Colorado Bureau of Investigation concealed handgun permit information.

Make the Drive From Trinidad Count

Pueblo is roughly north of Trinidad on Interstate 25, making it practical for many Las Animas County residents to travel to Pueblo for firearms training.

If you’re going to make the drive, make it worthwhile. Come prepared to learn, ask questions, handle firearms safely, and leave with skills you can continue practicing after class.
