Firearms Training for new gun owners has become a big topic of discussion in the gun industry.
The big influx of gun sales civil unrest and the ammunition shortages have all contributed to the craze.
One thing we can all agree on is that a person should not attempt to handle or shoot a handgun without some knowledge about it.
It is important to get the information from some who instructs frequently and has all the new up to date information.

First- Read your owner’s manual
Many will pick up an owner’s manual and it will seem like greek. This is because they don’t have the background to understand the information. Go to a training class.
Second-Firearms Safety Rules
Firearms training for new gun owners will always include a serious talk about the standard four rules of gun safety. This discussion will also include some talk about administrative handling which is where all gun accidents happen.
Third- Laws and Regulations
In firearms training for new gun owners, there should always be some info about the state laws. Can you have the gun in your car? Can your handgun be loaded in your auto? Under what conditions can you loan your gun to someone? These questions and many more should be answered by someone that has been trained in all these issues.
Fourth-Load and Unload
Learn to properly load and unload your gun safely. You would be surprised at the number of people I see in classes that don’t know how to do this safely. Many of the Big Box Store classes and the Hotel classes don’t allow guns in the class and don’t teach these important skills.
Fifth- Learn to Shoot
Yes, a gun professional should give you a shooting lesson so you can be familiar with how your gun fires and operates. Be sure that the person who does this for you has shooting credentials. Just because someone uses a firearm in their job or profession ( Police or Military) does not mean that they are teaching the most up to date techniques and information.
